Occlusal Decay is a type of caries (cavity) forming in the occlusal grooves on the biting surface of a tooth. This can be present for a long time and not painful but an extreme case can become painful. Caries like this are formed by acids in the mouth. These acids are often by-products of bacteria dining on food scraps in the mouth.
A dead tooth can develop an abscess due to infection. In the photo the abscess is about to burst and drain through the gum.
The tooth has a noticiable dark colour. This occurs when a tooth dies for some reason. Trauma or physical injury can kill a tooth like this. In cases such as these you can be certain you will get support from ACC.

Here is a missing lower right molar.
Implant fitted into lower right first molar space. The crown is retained. The implant is screwed into place.
Now the implant crown is in place.
Bleaching of teeth, this root treated tooth started to discolour, internal bleaching or whiteneing was done and new white filling material placed.
First we show a close view of two damaged front teeth from an accident. Both teeth lost vitality and were restored with traditonal crown techniques.
Next, the two teeth are built up with gold posts after root canals were performed.
Two ceramic crowns are then cemented over the gold posts. The result is very natural looking. With improved home cleaning the swollen gums will form a better shape
Here you can see the failing amalgam filling. Large gaps sit between the tooth and the black metal filling. This tooth would eventually split and decay.
So we removed the filling safely under rubber dam. You can now see the damaged stained tooth that was under the failing filling.
Next the tooth is restored with white composite resin filling materials. This is an alternative to a porcelain or gold crown.
